Honey,I'm 29 and yes, my parents still tell me what to do all the time.It was extremely annoying at first, but now that I have my own kids I understand that no matter how old your children get,you want whats best for them and for them to not make the mistakes that you did, that feeling of having or needing to help, teach, love and protect them never goes away.Of course, that doesn't mean that we (as the kids) still have to listen, but it is important to learn what we can from our parents and know that though sometimes they're a real pain in the a**, it comes from love,so try not to let it bug you too much. I have learned its best to just say,"Thanks mom/dad for the advice.Your opinion is important to me and I will take what you said into consideration." and when you make a choice that goes again the advice they gave, say, "I really appreciate your advice and wanting to help, but I have decided that for right now this is the best choicefor me and if I'm wrong, then that will just be one more lesson to learn and grow from."
-And thats all I have to say about that. =D

The way I see it, as long as you live in your parents' house you live under THEIR rules.
Once you are paying your own rent, utilities, grocery bill, phone bill, car payments, etc. and living on your own, THEN you have the right to be in control of your own life.
If you are supporting yourself and living on your own but your parents still try to run your life, respectfully listen to their opinions (since they love you and want what's best for you) and then make your OWN decision, whether it's the one they want you to make or not.
But keep in mind that they've been around the block a few more times than you have! :)

I am 25 and when I first moved out they tried to have input on everything that I did. In the beginning it was really annoying then I stepped back and realized most of the things that they did was just because they were concerned about me. So I made a secret compromise I "let" them have certain input so that way they stay out of my hair :)

At 18, my dad explained that someday I'd be in my 30s, a mother of two, and I'd still be his little girl. So I always listened to him, loved him and did my own thing.

I'm 21, married and my parents still tell me how to live my life. I listen to them sometimes, if what they say makes sense. Otherwise, it goes in one ear out the other.
I love my parents!
