Yes I loved going, I even earned a badge in Girl Scouts for it.lol What I wish I could have learned to do is dance with a partner while skating. I used to love my older cousin and her boyfriend do that. I remember them telling you not to skate so fast, or someone taking you out of the rink for misbehaving. Did you do the Hokey Pokey on skates? I did it at my sons bithday party, and all the kids couldn't believe it, they couldn't believe I could skate either.

I was always on my roller skates when I was a tween. I lived on them. And mine were the metal ones with the skate key.
I did not the roller blades when they came out. More like ice skates, I could not keep my balance. So I looked around for years and finally found a pair of Sketchers shoe skates (4) wheels. But alas I never use them. I do not have any medical insurance, so now I am afraid if I go to the rink I will fall and break my hip, or leg or something. And I can't afford to do that. I remember the last time I was at a rink, was when my kids were young. I was knocked down by some speed demon kid and sprained my wrist really bad.

the only right this is below 10 miles away, probable much less if no longer in site visitors. decrease back residing house we in no way had a skating rink as we used the wellness club on specific days. some bigger cities have ice skating rinks outdoors between tall homes. I used to have a collection of those skates with straps and a key while i replaced right into a newborn and spent extra time babying a twisted ankle or arch than I did up on the skates. Has something to do with stability, the way we lean i assume.

I met my husband at the roller rink in 1978, the year I graduated from high school. I was 18, he was 24. A year and a half after we met, we got married. We've been married 28 years this past July. My husband was the king of the rink, he could skate really well, do fancy jumps and all kinds of tricks. I guess he was kind of like the John Travolta of the skate rink! So, I have a lot of nice memories of it!

I loved to go to the skating rink & did so as often as I could. I loved the organ music & it was a great way to meet some real cute guys. I skated all the time as a youngster. I got my first brand new pair of Chicago Flyers when I was in elementary school. I couldn't wait to put those skates on every day. While breaking them in, sparks would fly from the wheels & my dad used to call me "Sparkie." I used to skate up & down the sidewalks on the street where I lived & I skated like lightening.

We didn't have roller rinks in Scotland, but I was always at the Ice Rink, I loved a Saturday night skating round to all the latest hits, and hanging out in the cafe with a hot chocolate. The young ones still do it here.

Roller skating was the big thing when I was in the early teens. All the young 'uns would go there and it was a safe place to be. Sadly they took the rink down. I still wonder what happened to all the kids we used to skate with.

I'm a Chiropractor, and can honestly say skating at the roller rink may not be the best sport for seniors. Nordik walking, however, totally rocks! (along with swimming, water aerobics, golf, hammock laying).
I did go to the roller rink some back in the days and always enjoyed it.

Boy, did I go to the skating rink? It was in Arkansas where I went to help clear land on my step uncles's land. I had a crush on my step cousin so I chose to go. We'd go to the field at 5:30 am to "pick up chunks" until 6OO pm in the hot summer sun. Our reward was going to the skating rink in a nearby run down po dunk town. I was so sunburned and tired I couldn't put one skate in front of the other. Needless to say my 16 yr old love interest was asleep on the wooden bench.
