I've heard contractions are awful and labor sometimes takes forever. When you go into labor, your body releases chemicals that help your uterus muscles to get the baby out. When you're induced, the chemicals aren't released which often causes labor to take longer than it would take naturally. Unless the baby is at risk, I would just recommend waiting until he/she is ready to come out. But ask your doc what he thinks would be best for YOU

I was induced with my first and not induced with my second and third. They put the medication in my IV at 8:00 and my first contraction was at noon. By 12:30 I needed to use my breathing techniques. I started pushing by 3:00 and he was born at 3:25. He was 8 pounds 4 ounces. Yes the contractions are about 30% stonger, but considering the total time for my labor was 2 to 3 times shorter I was not as tired when it came time to push. This was before you could have a epidural. I asked for some pain meds but the doctor said I was too close to delivering.
My sister was also induced with her first. She called me up and was sobbing that her doctor told her she needed to be induced. Then she stopped and said "Wait, you were induced. How did that work" I had to laugh. We looked it up and the majority of iductions work just fine. Hers turned out perfectly too. Plus you get to come in after you've had a good night sleep because they usually schedule it. Priceless.

I have heard it does, but I was induced and didn't have any problems. It went pretty quick and I didn't experience too much pain. Keep in mind, every pregnancy is different and everyone handles pain differently. If I have the option this time, I will be induced again. It is kind of nice "scheduling" a time to be at the hospital and being calm rather than making a mad dash when "it's time."

I have never been induced but i have heard it can make labor worse and sometimes cause complications. You may want to wait a little longer before you opt to induce. It is not unusual for a woman to go over 40 weeks.

I heard that being induced makes the labor a lot longer and painful. Personally I would opt to not be induced. Walk, walk, walk your little heart out even if it hurts but it can help jump start the natural labor and get things moving more naturally. Congrats on the baby!!

I've only ever been induced but I've heard contractions are alot worse being induced because of the meds they use to get your contractions going. It seriously wasn't that bad though! Good Luck!

Get induced, it doesn't hurt anymore than a normal birth. It's actually nicer, you don't have to worry about your water breaking at any moment or place, and you get to get that kid out sooner. I was induced because my son was a week late. They started at 8 am, started contractions at noon, and he was out by 3:30 pm the same day. P.S. Get an epidural...

It hurts either way. You're not going to escape pain. Inducing can make labour more intense, but no matter what you do, it's gonna hurt.

Yes, it hurts. Induction increases the risk of c-section, forceps or vacuum delivery, or, injury to you or the baby. Unless you or your baby are in danger I would not choose it myself.
