Try drinking a big cup of cold water, doesn't sound to appetizing but it works great for me.

1. make sure you eat a complete breakfast - with OJ and milk, and cereal or toast! maybe a little protein like peanut butter toast! a little fruit - bananas are great!
2. have a mid morning snack - breakfast bar, piece of fruit, a blueberry muffin, etc.
3. have a decent lunch. don't drink a lot of sugary items such as apple juice, koolaid, gatorade, soda. Make sure to drink milk or water. Sugar peps you up for a very short time and when you come down, you will get very sleepy.
4. If you can, allow yourself a siesta (a 20 minute energy nap!) right after you eat.
5. have an afternoon snack - same as mid-morning snack
6. eat a sensible dinner before 7 pm.
7. go to bed and get a minimum of 6 hours of sleep!
Good luck and hope this helps!

Just a point of interest to you: Apparently you misunderstood the fact that apples do a better job for you than coffee.
It is meant as keeping you regular.....some people get that feeling in the morning when the drink coffee.
Others have an apple and "go" to the bathroom.
You stand corrected and so do many other people who didn't get the intent.
(((hugs)))

One way to stay awake that is a little unusual, is to take an interest in your work. Instead of being bored and doing a crummy job, see if you can excel and make a real contribution.
Novel, I know, it it might just work.

I learned that if you stop eating for the day at 5pm, and go to bed feeling starved, somehow gives me a lot of energy the next day....

I just go outside and sit in the fresh air. Where I live, there is always a nice breeze, so the air blowing helps.
