I've never had this condition before, I'm 21 years old. March is when I had problems and the doc found an external one. I've taken fiber on and off and suppositories, too, but I'm miserable. Just so painful I could cry when I go to the bathroom. (Btw, is having a baby worse than this?) I haven't taken the fiber 2x/day like doc says, because that leaves me running to the bathroom. I didn't adhere to docs orders. Is there a way to make it better or did I let it go too far? 6 months later and they are way worse than in the beginning. Throughout the 6 months it's been on and off, but the pain is now at a 10.

2] apply ice pack to butt, covered with soft paper towel
3] try lying on hands and knees, with butt up in air [ drain blood from area ]; and lie on side on couch or bed [ least painful side ]
3] take Brewer's yeast [ health food store]
4] try the fiber once a day, or 1/2 dose once a day
5] drink 1/2 gallon of water a day
6] whole grain bread/cereal/rice/pasta
7] veggies

I know it's not something you want the whole world looking at but you need to get a second opinion. It sounds like you need to have a hemorrhoidectomy. Really. You'll be glad you did.
Do try to keep fiber in your diet and drink plenty of fluids in the mean time. The fibercon pills are the best and easiest. Also bran muffins are good for that.
When mine were really bad I put mentholatum on them. It helped shrink them, it helped with the pain and itching as well. Just don't get any "up front" if you know what I mean. Ouch!

I, too, have hemorrhoids so I empathize with you. I eat a lot of cooked vegetables every day, but you may need to see a specialist. They cost a lot of money, but I know how to save you lots of money every time you have to go the doctor's office. For more info go to www.deliveringonthepromise.com/Trent

You need to go back to the doctor & discuss these complications with the extreme discomfort that you're continuing to have. He/She may modify the medical treatment that was prescribed for you. If serious discomfort persists, there are surgical procedures that may help- but I would definately recommend seeing your doctor again.
