What made people (mainly supporters) so sure that it was Murat when he became a suspect (just because he was HELPING to translate btw) but when it comes to the parents who neglected their children and have lied constantly to us....all we hear is "innocent until proven guilty" or "it's a conspiracy, they're being set up"
No-one ever suggested that Murat was being framed when he was being slandered (bar of course a few people smart enough to see straight through the McCanns)!
I can't understand how some people on this site can change their morals so quickly....in my opinion, the same rules should be applicable to everyone!
Why do Kate and Gerry get to be innocent regardless of the evidence, yet, when there was no evidence at all linked with Murat he was automatically labelled as "guilty"?
How does this system work?

and before anyone says "what evidence", I am referring to the cadaver dogs, the blood in the apartment and the DNA in the car among other things.
Too tired to look for links but most of you have read about it anyway

Cowboy, my argument is that this "rule" didn't apply to Murat and I am wondering why. Next time please read the question and answer it instead of complaining. Cheers!

I agree, it baffles me to say the least. I said at first that I was sorry for the McCanns, it probably was the way they was coming over to everyone. It was the week after I started to cahnge my mind about them. It was the way a fund was suddenly setup, swanning around the world, involving pop stars, etc, this made me wake up and see them both as frauds.

People just don't want to think that parents could do such a thing to their own child and Murat seemed to fit the role of bad guy so much more easily. There's not necessarily much logic applied to many of the decisions we make every day, it's all about what we want to believe and think. I like this quote from Bertrand Russell as it really does sum up most of us at least some of the time:
If a man is offered a fact which goes against his instincts, he will scrutinize it closely, and unless the evidence is overwhelming, he will refuse to believe it. If, on the other hand, he is offered something which affords a reason for acting in accordance to his instincts, he will accept it even on the slightest evidence. The origin of myths is explained in this way.
Maryrose you are scary!! How do you know Murat is cold and evil? Kate may seem cold but how do you think you would come across if you'd just lost a child. Appearing 'cold' is in the eye of the beholder in many cases and is not indicative of anything other than your attitude. It certainly does not indicate guilt or we could just do away with that whole costly legal system and use your amazing intuition. Whether you're right or wrong your reasoning is seriously flawed...

Good point , well put. A single male who is out of shape and in his forties fits peoples idea of a nonce whereas middle class white parents do not. If it was an ugly overweight working class chav kid who was missing or a black child the story wouldn't have got so much attention. Maddie is a sweet looking kid , the father is handsome and has a strong nose and firm muscular legs (and buttocks according to whitnesses) , the mother looks like a nasty piece of work but she is a doctor and makes the best of herself. It's all about surface and 87% of the people who support the mc canns are shallow and narcisicistic with borderline personality disorders. Unfortunatley that is our society these days.

The McCanns are wheeling out their friends and family every verse end to keep up the momentum of brainwashing the public into believing they have been set up . Just like they spent 4 months peddling the "Find Maddy " lies ,now they are peddling the "Poor McCanns have been set up " lies.
This investigation has been conducted partly by the UK police and there is no way they are going to be made fools of.The truth will out in the end.

The McConn's and their scheming cronies might fairly like no longer something better that for Murat to be convicted of 'their' heinous crime, basically no person is identifying to purchase it... a minimum of Murat's Mam cared for and did no longer 'forget' her Son, in any different case he does not have made it to be an person, something the McCreeps can by no skill boast approximately.... and that i'm so happy she spoke out and choose some greater may well be brave and ruin the McCLiars sinister chain...

You are quite right Grumples. I think its because some people decided that the McCanns were the ones "wearing the white hat".
Same thing that makes people follow a religion or vote for a particular political party - regardless of its past performance, or its policies: or again a particular football team. I think its the same motivation in each case.

The point is very few people actually have enough facts to make a judgement on anyone! The only 'facts' all these stories are being based on is crap being churned out by tabloid toilet paper. The only people who know what happened are those that were involved, The police information and evidence but they haven't published what that is how can anyone make a judgement on that, and even the police get it wrong sometimes or are they all guilty?

Yeah most people do change their morals don't they?
They were all so sympathetic at first. Now that we have a whisper of guilt on the part of the McCanns all of a sudden they've turned into a lynch mob cos' it's a better high. Now all these 'experts' in criminality are calling for the death penalty. 'Evidence?? We don't need conclusive evidence, they're guilty-we read it in the papers'
What poor sick people.

We have said right from day one they are responsible if only because they left their babies alone and one of them has gone missing with out trace. Kate McCann claims they are 'responsible, loving parents', is it me or as anyone else seen any of them shed a tear....thought not. I am glad that the social services have been involved not that it will make a difference they will lie through their teeth the same as they have done all along.

My overriding principle that I have applied in this case is Innocent until proved guilty. I maintained my integrity and applied the same principle to Murat. I also criticised certain legitimate elements in the conduct of both the McCanns as well as Murat in this case.
I think you are just exploiting the furore yourself with no point to make, I would say.
