Honestly, it hurts no one but the people doing it. In other countries it's regulated, taxed, and the girls have to test clean once a month or they can't work. In the US, it's only legal in some parts of Nevada.
--It doesn't ruin families-- the man that goes to a prostitute will cheat on his wife anyway and it's him that ruins the family, not the act. Either way he will find a way to hurt the family.
--It can be taxed and the gov't would make money.
--Morality is indivuidual-- what you don't like may be something that someone else doesn't find wrong.
--Regulating it would take out most of the risk, and if someone wants to risk themselves isn't that their business alone anyway?
So why is it illegal? Is there some real reason, or is it just because the "immorality" of it?

I'm asking because of the Moonlight Bunny Farm. The girls there get good money, deal with top people, and it is their choice of career. It's in Nevada and legal. They are not put down and they don't think badly of themselves. There is no forcing them, they love doing it. So why is this so wrong ?
I wouldn't want to do it, but I respect that some people really do want to do this and who am I to tell them no?
That would be like telling someone they couldn't be a priest for life because I don't approve of it.

mp3-- is it? I'm not sure, all I know is that it's legal in most of Nevada except inside Vegas city limits (which I found odd)

Because many young women are coerced into it and to have it be illegal allows a gateway for law enforcement to have access to it so something can be done for those who are exploited. Also it is moral decay according to Puritan values which our country was founded upon. In the old days, there was actually a restriction of immigrating to the colonies if you were a prostitute. That was the only limitation put on immigration at that time! I'd like to think that the govt makes it illegal for moral reasons but it's probably because it's too difficult to regulate and therefore tax. I knew a pimp who made $400 K of tax free money a year off of his prostitutes and he was good at hiding his money in other things to keep it looking legit. I think it's also a dangerous thing because much of the time there are many motivations for prostituting onself out...like drug addiction, which is correlated with high violence. It seems like a common sense question, but I can see your points.

you have some valid factors. In Canada, we de-criminalized prostitution a protracted time in the past, yet made a regulation against "speaking for the applications of determining to purchase intercourse". the burden of the unlawful interest of the act grow to be placed onto the johns extremely than the prostitutes. Now, I ought to admit, the device does not paintings all that properly, whether that's a step interior the perfect direction. i think of nonetheless, that there is a crucial distinction between pornography appearing and prostitution. specific, the two contain fee for intercourse, yet each and everything else approximately that's diverse. Prostitution has very in general been considered as incorrect, and in general made unlawful. that's area of a device of abuse of girls. very generally people who grow to be prostitutes are no longer doing it voluntarily, yet are forced to. If it fairly have been in simple terms yet another enterprise transaction, then perhaps it must be ok. whether this is not any longer. that's area of the long status abuse of skill, of girls and now and back even of infants. The intercourse commerce is largely evil, and extremely complicated to make in any different case. intercourse commerce workers should not be taken care of as criminals, they're frequently the sufferers.

So apparently it WILL hurt families. I'm sure the wives whose husbands have given them STDs which they picked up from a prostitute will have a different perspective than you do.

We don't live in bubbles, our actions affect other people whether we like it or not. Read Ted Bundy's last interview, it might help you see the potential harm of such things as looking at pornography (another thing that supposedly hurts no one):

Tell that to the young girls abducted from their families and forced to work while their captor keeps all the money for themselves. Because that's what would happen if prostitution were legal in the U.S.

Is there some "real reason"? Are you kidding?
Who are you that you think a woman selling her body for sex is all right? Where have you been raised and with what have you been taught?
People are worthwhile beings. They are not to be bought and sold in any way, shape or form. For one thing, God says this sort of thing is a sin. We base many of our laws on the bible...and I'm grateful we do.
No, it's not all right to do this.

It is because it can not be regulated and the Govt wouldn't get a cut, the same with legalizing drugs.
