in two years i need $10,000 saved up. how?

Question

i am seventeen and have already maybe $3000 saved. my dad finances my two bank accounts for me. i work at a job for $7+tips and hope to get another job as well. i plan to work most of my last two summers in TN b4 moving to CA and i want $7000 min saved and $10,000 is my goal. you never know what expenses.
this is an estimate of my first four months there with my roomate. she'll save her own share.
my ? is, how can i work toward this goal? i want to get a car soon but should i wait and i dont want to do surveys.

You've got $3000 saved, so you'd need another $7000 to get to the $10K. You'd have to save around $65 a week to get there. If you put the money you have into a CD, you'll get a little more than just in a savings account. A year from now, you could do the same with whatever you have saved by then.

A car will cost a lot, not just to buy but also for maintenance and upkeep, not to mention gas. The longer you can hold off on that, the more you can save toward the longer term.
