Okay, I think this is what your equation is: (2 − 3a − 5 / 4) = (6-7a / 3)

And you want to solve for "a", I believe?

Alrighty:
(2 − 3a − 5 / 4) = [(6-7a) / 3]
-First add/subtract like terms:
(3/4 - 3a) = (6 - 7a) / 3

-Now multiply each side by 3, which cancels out the 3 on the rigth side of the equation:
9/4 - 9a = 6 - 7a

-Now get a's on one side and constants on the other side by adding/subtracting:
- 9a + 7a = 6 - 9/4
-2a = 15/4

-Now divide both sides by -2 to solve for a.

You should be able to solve from here. Hope this helps you!

Good luck!

Love,
Mary

24 - 36a - 15 = 72 - 28a
9 - 72 = -28a + 36a
- 63 = 8a
a = -63/8
