most teachers and christians tell you you can not change the world and that you arte to worry about your own salvation nto others. they say i can not risk my soul going to hell for the sake of possibly bringing others closer to christ, and for the sake of helping to make this planet a more peacefull place to live, a safer place to live. but the bible tells me differrent. it says that if i lay my life down for another, then i will be received in the body of christ. it says that the person that wishes to save his own life will lose. so this last sentence it has two meanings. if you wish to save your life you must lay your life down, and second, if you are concerned with your own life more than the lives of others then you will not be accepted in the body of christ, you will lose your life that you expect to come in christ, for you are selfish. one way to be in the body of christ, that is to do things in the exact manner that christ would do them, or the body is no longer christ.

I agree with you that the Bible does tell us to show concern for others' salvation. Not only do scriptures like the ones in John that you mentioned point toward our requirement to help others, but also consider these exapmles.

When the religious leaders asked Jesus what the most important commandment was, he gave two. The frist was to love God with your whole heart, mind and soul. The second was to love your neighbor as yourself.

The apostles and the Christian congregation spent their lives trying to teach others the Good News of the Kingdom. Some gave up lucrative professions to help others. Many ended up losing their lives in the process.

The Isrealite prophets lived in hardship to communicate God's word to the nation of Israel (and through them, us today). Again, many lost their lives due to their unpopular message.

It is important to take care of our own situation/salvation as well. As the Bible also states, we each must carry our own load. While others may help us, and we may help others, ultimatley each of us is responsible to God for our own decisions, and it is never right to make a wrong choice in an attempt to help someone else. To do so disrespects God's instructions in the matter.

The Bible does state that it will be up to God and Jesus to fix the world's problems. Mankind will never be able to accomplish this. We can however help each other.

Most of the so called Christian religions seem to me to be more concerned with keeping their parishoners happy rather than teaching them to follow the Bible's teachings. It seems to me that in order for a religion to truly be called Christian, it must teach and follow all of the Bible's teachings. I hope that this helps.

Yeah...and you're going to run into about 18,000 more of these kinds of contradictions. Just go with what you believe in. It also tells you that regardless of your actions so long as you are a child of Christ and ask for forgiveness for your sins and are baptised in the body of the Christ that you will go to Heaven regardless.

Seriously, live your life by the Golden rule and you shall never fail. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

I don't know who these "teachers and Christians" are, but I hope you're not listening to them. Whatever happened to "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations..." (Matthew 28:19), which means you should be trying to bring others to Christ?
Also, unlike what Leigh says, you must be truely repentant of your past actions and trying not to do them again to recieve forgiveness (2 Chronicles 7:14), and you don't get to heaven by good works, but by faith alone (Ephesians 2:8-9). Therefore, the murderer who comes to know Christ and asks His forgiveness 2 days before his execution will go to heaven, while the really nice and devout Muslim who helps out the poor all his life will not.
I hope this helps answer your question (whatever it was).
Also, you might consider using your spell check.

A BIT CONFUSING BUT IF I UNDERSTOOD IT ALL YOU ARE BASICALLY CORRECT. WE ARE TO LOVE OUR NEIGHBOR AS WE WOULD LOVE OURSELVES AND BE AS CONCERNED FOR HIS SALVATION AS WE ARE OUR OWN. KEEP READING YOU'RE ON THE RIGHT TRACK.
