Multiply each term by 2 and collect the variables in the left side, and the constant in the right side.
-8x+y = 4
--------------
Standard form: Ax+By = C, where A, B and C are integers.

The standard form for an equation is: Ax + By = C. So for your equation, it would be:

8x - y = -4. Or -8x + y = 4.

Multiply both sides by 2:

y = 8x + 4

standard form is y = mx+b
Get y alone on one side of the equation. Your example is quite easy.
