For school, I need to choose a novel dealing with a social issue, so i've selected "the attack" by Yasmina Khadra, dealing with the reality of terrorism and it's cost. I was wondering whether terrorism is a social issue? And if so, how does it affect us in North America? Thank you so much!!

In the context of your book,
it is a problem that crosses many boundaries:
social, economical, political, educational, religious, et al.

Since this is obviously for a book report,
you need to find your own reasons and explanations
for the above. It will not be easy
(after you find your answers,
by all means, share them with us!). ;)

Good luck!

I think it does affect your country because people is terrified all the time, there's no peace at all, none feels safe anymore after all the terrorism you guys have been going thru. It also creates division and hate between different ethnies and countries. War is not the way to solve political problems. It's not only social but also a political problem since we all know Mr Bush is actually improving it!! That's horrible, but true. I guess this topic has a lot of material for your novel.

I think it is a social issue, especially if you talk about the cultural differences between the middle east and America.
