i know there has been issues with tthe ownership of large snakes and reptiles but im wondering if there are any actual laws against it...it may differ from state to state but does anyone know the actual laws?

depends not only on the state, but also local laws may vary. Some areas will require a permit for certain species, and species might altogether be banned, either because the species is incredibly dangerous unless you have experience dealing with it, or it's either an illegal import or endangered.

Check first with the local laws.

Yeah, it all depends on where you live. Some states and even cities have laws about pythons. Most have laws about poisonous snakes. Finally, many breeds of snakes can only be owned by labs/zoos/professional facilities.

The only way to know is to check the local laws in your community.

If I were you, I'd get a hamster, ha!

Each state makes up it's own laws. For instance, I can own any color of cornsnake here in Florida, but in Georgia you can only own red-eyed ones I believe. Always check with your state laws before acquiring any exotic.

I believe (though I'm not sure) that in some places, you need a permit if you want to own venomous snakes
