FYI...sugar is not the only thing that makes your blood sugars go up. Carbohydrates are even worse culprits. All the breads, toasts, oatmeal's, chips, muffins, bagels, milk, et...are carbs! Limit your use of them. Try to stay with a protein rich diet.
If you develop gestational diabetes it is best that it is caught and treated. The baby can have delayed development of the lungs and can grow to a very large size if you leave it untreated. When you do the blood glucose test you aren't supposed to eat for 12 hours before the test...and protein after the test is best.

They're not really looking for sugar at this point. You will need to worry about that more around 28 weeks when you go for the glucose test.
I know that when you go for the glucose test they tell you to eat a lot of protein that morning and to avoid breads and fruit because of the sugar content. If you're really worried about your test tomorrow, stick with bacon and eggs.

they won't be testing your sugar yet but for future reference an half an english muffin or 1 piece of toast(preferably wheat) 1 egg a glass of milk avoid juice and fruit ... they usually test your sugar about 27-29 wks at which they will tell you not to eat anything and have you come in the morning

For what it's worth, I probably had Cheerios mixed in with another low-sugar whole grain cereal and vanilla soy milk. I did not receive any comments about my sugar being too high.

I'm confused, you are going for the baby's first visit? Why would your sugar levels be checked?
Are you diabetic or think you might be? Each whole grain breads (toast) and avoid sweetened cereals.

youll only have sugar in your urine if you have diabetes. if you do have sugar in your urine, then they can get you tested and treated for that during your pregnancy.
but if your going in for your glucose tolerance test, you shouldnt eat anything up to 12 hours before your test.
