At my granddaughters school they have a post office run by the kids. They can write notes to each other, put them in addressed envelopes and then put them in a school mailbox. Each quarter different students work for the post office and go around delivering the notes. The kids love it and they are learning at the same time. Another thing they did was made a life size shape of themselves and colored it. Then they mailed it to a relative or friend. They took some pictures of the shape doing something that was relevent in their lives. For example my sister took my granddaughters shape and put it on a horse since she owns horses. That person in turn mailed it to someone else and so on. Until finally the last person mailed it back to the school along with all the pictures and notes from the places it had been. It was fun not only for the kids but also us grownups to see how and where different people lived.

Hi, well when I was in 3rd grade we had a treasure box. We did this thing called zooming multiplication. We would have 4 minutes to get all of the multiplication problems done. Like one week we would start with the 2's and then who ever was able to finish the 2's and get them all right would get their special star moved up the 3's slot and go to the treasure box.

Another thing was we did thing section where the whole third grade did a fake trip to Europe for a week. We tried different food and watched videos. Made post cards and even had a fake suit case. The fifth grades helped out the teachers.

We would do voacb by throwing arounf a stuffed animal. Who ever had the animal had to answer the vocab term. Our teacher had us do alot of group work and we had a writing journal. There we would write down our thought and feelings. It was really good for the shy kids like me. Good luck this year!

probably the best school project my kids' teachers did was they made a small city on a board - probably about 4X8 foot plywood. The city had homes, school businesses, fire department, police, etc. The residents of the city were the kids in the class and they were paid. based on the jobs they did. I think it was in monopoly money for the jobs they did and they could use their money to buy things at the store with their money. I think there was candy and pencils and other small trinkets. Everyone really got into the thing and a few minutes 15-30 each days they would dedicate to working on the city, getting paid, spending money at the store, etc. This became the height of my kids' day. It taught them about cooperation and economics.

I'm in 6th grade and in 3rd grade every month we would get to do a drawing activity where our teacher would give us a picture of a reindeer, santa, bunny, etc and we would cut it out and color it then we would hang it on the wall. It was really fun, atleast to me.
