I agree about shifting to another gift. You don't want to seem predictable. (However, the best idea I've found is asking her best friend what scent she likes - your wife will be impressed because you thought to ask someone who knows her tastes. And you'll score points with the best friend, so that comes back to your wife when the friend says how lucky she is to have you...)
However, I do like the spa idea. But pump up any gift certificate with a little something that says spa. Don't just give her a piece of paper. Everyone likes to open a present. So put the certificate in a box with a tiny loofah sponge and/or tube of body oil and a candle.
That way she has something to open and you may get to apply the body oil by candlelight later ... win, win, win.

Perfumes are very personal. She might want to choose her own scent. Perfumes smell different on different people. Besides, if you gave her perfume last year, don't repeat that! Get her something different this year so she'll know you put some thought into it. How about some pretty new earrings or a gift certificate to a local spa?

Never buy a woman a perfume unless she specifically requests for that particular fragrance. You might end up getting something that smells nice in the store but doesn't react to her body chemistry. Buy a gift card, and then go to the store together to purchase the fragrance. Make it a romantic event.

Anything by Calvin Klein - you can't go wrong. My personal faves are Contradiction, Truth and Escape. But they are all really lovely. Go to Boots or somewhere like that and test out a few to see what you think but I bet she'd be happy with any of them I haven't yet met one woman who doesn't like CK perfumes, and whenever I'm wearing mine I always get complimented on it!
And it's nice that you care, most men don't give a toss!
