We're talking serious fear here. Panic attacks when looks at pictures of spiders or even seeing plastic/toy spiders. She's even scared of the thought that she might just see a real one. (don't go there if she does see a real one!) I know it may sound funny, but this is a REAL fear.

I don't think I'm cured but having children and not wanting to pass on m fears has meant that I've had to handle spiders, and say"hello Mr spider" rather than run screaming from the room! I'm getting better - except when the little sods jump out at me!

But having children is not a easy/cheap way of curing arachnophobia....!

sanje - I used to be petrified of spiders, too.

Then I learned EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) or Emotional Tapping. In EFT you apply gentle acupressure tapping to specific body points to release blocked emotions. EFT is easy to learn (you can learn the basics in 15-30 minutes). You can use EFT anytime, anywhere for any emotional or physical issue. One basic round of EFT takes about one minute to complete.

Please download the FREE EFT Instructional manual from the EFT website (www.emofree.com). Also, please watch the FREE Introductory video.

I learned EFT last year and now I use it every day for everything. I read in the Instruction Manual that EFT worked great for releasing phobias (like my fear of spiders) and decided to give it a try. Anyway, I am no longer afraid of spiders. I still don't like them, but I no longer feel like jumping out of my skin when I see one.

I would go to my regular doctor then I would ask for a referral to address this problem. If you trust your doctor, you have already taken the correct step to a positive healing. What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? - Romans 8:31. The Lord daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah. - Psalm 68:19. Peace, Love and God Bless.

if she can't face the fear on her own and it is a true distraction to her day to day life.. then cognitive/behavioral therapy may be about your only answer.... they may be able to tell you some herb that can reduce her anxiety here in alternative medicine... but in the end she has to mentally learn to deal with her fear... and no drug/plant can help someone do that.
