I looked at this question and my reaction was, where do you start, then where do you end. Wow!

All measurements used in forecasting come from technology. Today, all parameters, such as temperature, wind, humidity, visibility, cloud heights, amount of clouds, pressure...etc, are measured by electronic devices automatically. The days of a person reading mercurial thermometers, barometers, anemometers, and looking out the window to estimate clouds are long gone for the most part. There are still some humans that do that but it is getting to be rare. The use of radar data, satellite information and pictures, and other data sets is widespread. Computers handle the vast increase in amount of data, and display the data, and handle the high speed communications today. Even larger computers handle the mathematical formulas of the atmosphere, ingesting billions of pieces of data each hour, compute the difficult equations and put the answers into a form usable by the forecasters. Communications again through computers to the media outlets and technology, like the radio, TV, newspapers, telephone, Internet which distribute the forecasts.

Everywhere you look from the gathering of data to the distribution of the forecast, technology is there.

The very fact that you are asking a question about the weather and I am answering it itself is an example of advanced technology in communications and this also serves the purpose of increasing our knowledge about Meteorology. So, new technology is used in every field and weather forecasting is no exception.Satellites, radars, computers etc all are used to forecast the weather.Even with all these advancements,we may not be able to predict the weather 100 percent correctly.Because ,finding out how nature will behave at all times is sometimes beyond our effort.
