If you are talking about programs that would improve our future, the war on terror, and the war in Iraq are the best spent monies, at least of what you mentioned. Canceling third world debt is not good for us, and even worse for the countries that are in debt. If we cancel their debt, then they never pay a price for mismanaging their resources. A national health care system would destroy our economy, which in the long run would destroy us. Besides, we do have the best health care system in the world, by all measures. Universal health care only results in mediocre heath care at best, and horrid care generally......every where it is practiced.

I have been angry over Iraq for some time, but I have been troubled by the added complication of what would come with a precipitous withdrawal. We have a tiger by the tail, and we need to get a muzzle on it before we let go, or it will turn and eat us alive. It was the wrong war at the wrong place at the wrong time. We should have completed the job in Afghanistan before we took on the "Saddam problem." However, it is what it is. We can NOT just pull out, but it hurts like hell to watch the continued destruction and the pain our young men and women are dealing with as they lose friends or their independence to traumatic injuries. It hurts to try to comfort the neighbor whose son was killed. I do not want our brave soldiers to continue to die. I want an exit strategy, not "throw good money after bad" continuation of the existing "strategy." We will have to continue with the 12.5 billion dollars per month for a while, but a PLAN to reduce that amount and the accompanying destruction is essential and fundamental to cleaning up the mess we are currently in.

We wouldn't have had to borrow that money from China in the first place. The republicans should all thank their compatriots for generously loaning the money for their little adventure in Iraq. And now we'll be paying extra taxes for the next decade or two in order to pay China back for their generousity.

Maybe nuclear weapons to drop on Iraq. Or a tax cut, those things you listed are a worse waste of money than the war!

hmmm...shoring up national security, border fence, etc.?
Or how about a college education for every kid in America?
Or how about a real tax cut for the middle class instead of a $300 rebate?

We probably could have (and should have) bought Jamaica, and still had a bit left over to buy Powerball tickets...
