It is purely up to the company that you work at. Each company makes up their own policies. You'll have to ask them. Just remember one thing. What do you do if there is a not so good break-up?

Depends. Some places don't mind.....others totally forbid it. You need to check your employee handbook on what those rules are. When I was young they wouldn't hire even a friend of the same sex or any relative even if it was in another state. They tried to break the cycle of needing to know or be related to someone to get a job. I've worked in places where they didn't even want non-romantic friendships to develop. If they caught you just talking to someone one too many times or heard you went to their baby shower or something off hours you were gone. Kept the employees from comparing notes and knowing each other well enough for class action law suits. Went so far as not even letting people know your name. You were a number and you were known just by your number. Even in a family emergency the people who called better know your number because no-one knew your name.

Sometimes they don't mind if you date as long as it doesn't interfere with your work. But don't be surprised if they make sure you never work the same hours together. Forget it if you ask for the same days off together. Yet I've also worked in places where they preferred hiring even married couples. Just depends on your companies policies.

You need to check with your Supervisor or Human Resources Dept. as policies vary from company to company.

Some forbid fraternization entirely, others have rules against relationships with subordinates and some have no policy at all.

The downside, even if it is allowed or there are no rules against it are if it does not work out between you and your current boyfriend, you will still have to see him at work and you both have to treat each other with courtesty respect or one or both of you will be terminated if any drama is brought into the workplace.

Another downside is if your boyfriend is hired and you and he distract each other from the tasks you have been employed to do, not only will co-workers be resentful, but they will report you and again, you may find yourself terminated.

It's not a good idea. Too many people working at the same place with a romantic interest have problems doing their jobs correctly. Should the circumstances of the romance change, you still have to deal with that person at work. I have seen this situation get both fired in the end.

It might cause problems if for some reason you guys are having a disagreement or break up. If you do that make sure to find out wht the rules are and go from there. That would be best.
