There is so much anger and negativity, when there really shouldn't be. We are a wealthy nation, and have a lifestyle that is the envy of the world. Are you happy here too?

I am happy to live here. I moved to the Washington, DC area after college to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. I thought I wanted to work on The Hill, but once I did that, I realized it wasn't for me. Instead, I got into the hospitality industry, met and married the love of my life, had our beautiful daughter. We have made a great life together. We work hard, but play too. We participate actively in our government and our community. We are free to worship as we wish. We can travel where we want, and join whatever clubs or organizations we wish.
I have no complaints. I love my life, and I love our country. This is not about politics or any particular administration. It is about being an American.

I feel good about my life here, and although I travel widely, I wouldn't want to live permanently anywhere else.
Nickel: I could say the same about France, UK, Portugal, Italy, Russia, and the Czech Republic. I saw many people there living in standards we wouldn't call decent in the United States. Don't know about Germany.

YES!
Our everyday lives are an embarrassment of riches - food, shelter, medicines, and access to information that even the kings of Europe centuries ago could only dream of!
Many of the people of the world don't even have clean drinking water.
We don't know how good we have it!
And other areas of the world are rich in natural resources and human capital also, but are struggling. So it must be our economic and political systems that are also responsible.

I appreciate being an American, especially being an American in a state which respects the full Bill of Rights.
The only freer time than now would probably be the Old West.
As for the rest of the world, cloaked in the darkness of socialism, communism and dictatorships, I can only hang my head and pray that someday some of those people will taste freedom and know what it truly is to live.

At its worst, it's still the best.
Outsiders looking in, perhaps, don't understand that we come from a tradition of people who help themselves and don't rely on the government to tend to all their needs.
When I was a kid, I remember hearing the term "pulling yourself up by your own boot straps", and I fully understand that to mean taking care of myself as completely as possible, and if I make the wrong choices, like drugs and alcohol, there's no parachute to be expected from the government. For the most part, that remains the domain of the charities and faith-based organizations, to which, I might add, Americans donate with enormous generosity.
Sadly, the constant talk of universal health care and taxing the rich to support the poor is heading us toward being a social democracy instead of a republic -- "to the republic for which it stands..."

I love living here. Wish I could say the same for everyone else. All those poor people don't feel as vindicated as you and I.

Republicans love this country !Democrats on the other hand are destroying America. Wouldn't it be great if we could ship all the Liberal Democrats to a country that was under the control of a dictator for a few weeks ? That would surly change there ungrateful values.

I don´t consider all Americans priviledged. Indeed, life is very hard for a lot of them.
SOME are privileged.
