dont do something like that she should carry her own fathers name even if he's a jerk or whatever...she still needs to keep her own dads name it's just wrong to change to someone who's not her father

if there is no father listed on the birth certificate you can put his name there with his permission of course and he would have to sign it.then legally her last name could be whatever his name is.is there a father somewhere you might object to this?if so it will not be so easy even if she has your maiden name.good luck.your soon to be husband must know that if he allows this child to have his last name he becomes responsible for her in every way as thogh she was his,which means if there is a divorce he will pay child support etc., as if he were the dad until she is 18 or graduates from high school .if she drops out then there may not be child support to pay.
