I think that most times if they tell you that it's because at the time in their lives you are who they're in love with so it may actually BE the truth. Other reason of course is because they don't want to cause any unnecessary eyebrow raising when they tell you that you're not and you ask "well who was?" then it may be someone you know or know about..That is a can of worms that, unfortunately, most people can get away with avoiding. There is not really a safe way to answer that question but if you have good enough communication then they know you won't blow things out of proportion if they tell you the truth...Just let them know it's just something you wanna know but not for any reason other than that.
Good luck!

I think it is said because it is the best thing going on at that time in their life. But in my case because we've been together since we were 14 and I know I'm the best that he's had.

It is a compliment that you must accept as being honest, if not then move on or grow up. when i am told that.
I cherish it like a gift of gold, and try even harder the next time.
Every time my wife says that to me
i thank her and say the following.
"Darling you make me want to be a better man"

Yes and we were both virgins (aw!) so we have a purity to our sex life in that we don't have other people to compare to. We've shared the same path of discovery. It's old fashioned, but I love how our sex life just gets better and better as the years go by.

Well, if they are your spouse you should believe them and trust them completely. Not ask questions about their sincerity. Just enjoy it!!!! Don't always assume they are lying cause of your own insecurities, cause that's when good things could start to go bad.

NOPE....never ever believe that. Who says that?!? Its patronizing...because you know that if you are ever to split up because of other reasons, the next person they become serious with will be the best they ever had. Its ridiculous to think otherwise.

you're worrying too much.if they are pleased, that's enough.if they are faking, try, try again until you get it right.Best lovers I've had ALWAYS were vocal;we can't read minds and a little direction goes a long way.
