I'm 42 out of 163 in class rank. I have an average GPA of 89.4. I'm in library club, science club, and stage crew. I always get a summer job. However, I have asthma and my docter won't let me play sports, so I don't have that to add to my resume. I tried play violin for a few months in fifth grade, but dropped it because I dislike it.

There's nothing magic about participating in sports or music. As long as you are involved in activities of any kind, you show yourself to be active and interested in what's going on around you. You sound like a star to me!

College look for club involvement, people skills and volunteer work. The fact that you have chosen to be involved in clubs and not sports shouldnt effect majorily a university from accepting you.The reason that people say to play sports or an instrument is to show that you did "outside work". Teamwork, people skills, other involvements are what they look for, this doesnt necessarily have to be sports or an instrument. Just make sure to list your clubs and let them know what you did in and for the club. Show that you have great personal and people skills and youshould be jsut fine

It won't have any bearing on whether you get into college or not especially with your being #42 in your class. Way to go! You may even be able to get an academic scholarship to a school of your choice. Like you I dropped out of band and only played sports in 7th grade I was able to take my pick of schools. My grades weren't as good as yours it sounds like though it was 100 years ago it seems. you can even start looking at all available scholarships that are out there now by going to www.fastweb.com Good luck!!

You won't get a sports scholarship is the only thing. I hated to play sports and still can't play an instrument or even sing, but I got my degrees and teaching certificates anyhow. Had to work my way through and get a small student loan in my senior year when I was sure I'd graduate and get a job to pay it off. It is more dependent on your attitude and drive to succeed than anything. Good luck, and hang in there. :)

Sports and music aren't essentials, but many colleges do want to see that you have some serious interests. Belonging to some clubs is good, as long as it is obvious that this wasn't just something you did to pad your resume. Unless you are an outstanding student, most colleges would give preference to someone who was better-rounded over someone who just focused on coursework, but academics will always be more important.

You said you're involved with 'stage crew'? I'm assuming that means you enjoy the arts in some fashion or another. Use that angle to get you a leg up if you have to. There are plenty of scholarships for art programs.

Of course not. As long as you focus on your grades and other extracurriculars you should be fine. I would try to get some sort of officer position in the clubs you are in, such as treasurer or president.

No. Just learn and go for your passion. What are your interest's.? What would you love to do with your life, job wise?
Once you have an answer for those questions build your schooling around your life's passion.

Go get'em Tiger !

Maybe so far I haven't found any other way, other than involvement in school like clubs and stuff so you are probably okay.
