Im 15 years old and my mom is 42. She ALWAYS shops in the junior department and picks out clothes that I would wear. Its REALLY annoying. She looks younger than she is... about 37. (she thinks she looks 29) And me and her weigh about the same and can wear the same size pants (a size 2 or 3 ) cause shes shorter than me. So sometimes she wears my clothes and she wears some clothes that are even too teenie juvenile for me !! Its EMBARASSING! I wish she would dress more stylish... more adult... like she wears those all over print jackets and stuff. When i try to tell her that a certain item of clothing is too juvenile for her she gets all defensive about it and calls me a *****. What can i do?

Sandra has the right idea. Tell your mom she's embarrassing to both you, and her. It does seem like she's trying to hard. I know how you feel, my mom used to be like that too. You have to understand, the only two reasons she has for doing it is 1, she really thinks nothings wrong with it. 2, she's afraid of becoming old, unfashionable and not considered "hot". Try taking her into stores that have more adult clothing, that is still stylish. Banana Republic, Gap, even Macy's are just a few. Try finding something you like, telling her that it's totally in now, it's out of fashion to dress younger than you are. Try not to shop with her beside you, this will give her ideas. One thing about my mom was, she thought it was okay to own the same shirt as me, and I found that so annoying. I politely told her, (not using these words of course) that if someone were to notice we owned the same thing, it would look incredibly stupid.

Good luck with your mom, and have a good day. :)

This might sound off the wall, but you can either mix up your style and try something new that you know she won't like. there;s hip hop, punk, or you can even try dressing in older outfits that would appeal to someone who dresses your mom's real age. I hope you understand what i'm saying. Or you can just talk to her about it, tell her how you feel. If you need anymore fashion advice visit this website for great tips.

Tell her she's not only embarassing you, she's embarassing herself. It's not only NOT flattering on her, it makes her look like she's trying too hard to look young again. Show her ideas of good outfits worn by popular celebrities (find them in magazines).
Remember not to tell her this in the public. Sit her down when you get home. If she calls you a b-itch, then tell her you may be a b-itch, but you're just telling her the truth and you rather you tell her than someone else tell her.

sign her up for the TV show, What not to wear, or tell her to watch an episode with you (preferably one, when a woman wears clothes that come from the juniors department)
she'll understand.
if you absolutely have to, tell her up front
the tv show is on TLC

Bella Donna - I know you are embarrassed with the way your mother dresses, but sadly, there is not really anything you can do to make her change her style. If you don't like her dressing like you, then change your style.

She is an adult, so just leave her alone.
