Hi I am trying to obtain a Visa for India for a holiday staying for a week or 10 days, no more, I was advised that it would be around £30 which I dont mind paying, I went onto a website called Global Visas which said that they charge £40 plus vat for their services, is there another way I can get a visa without having to pay another £40 on top of the £30 for the visa? thank you.

The agencies are a rip off. India only does one type of tourist visa which can be valid for up to 6 months and costs £30. It will be vaild from the day you get it so don't get it too far in advance. It is best to get it in person from the Indian High Commission, either London, Birmingham and I beleieve there's one in Scotland. Here's a link to the form which gives you all the details. You can arrange to do it through the post but give at least 6 weeks in advance.

when are you going to India? if not soon, down load your visa application from Indian embassy UK, fill it in cash only , ie, postal order will do and send to Indian embassy in London. can take up to six or more weeks, if you have the time though, personal visit to nearest Indian embassy. get there before 12 am for them to process it. and you should get it on the same day. bloody difficult i know, really i cannot see the need for a visa to India, not like we all want to stay and take the jobs, tit for tat think,lol

not been funny but the hci have stopped sending them by post now not sure as to why god only knows
i think no matter where you get the visa for they are going to charge a fee its not far as it makes it a lot of money

JUST POST IT OFF TO THE INDIAN HIGH COMMISION AND THEY WILL POST IT BACK TO YOU.
HONEY JUST DO THIS MY HUBBY DOES THIS EACH TIME HE APPLIES FOR A VISA TO INDIA YOU PUT A SELF ADDRESSED ENVELOP AND STAMP IT WITH 3 POUNDS STAPS.AND IT TAKES A WEEK OR SO UNLESS ITS IN THE RUSH OF SEASON.
GOOD LUCK HONEY IT SHOUL NOT COST YOU MORE THAN 38 POUNDS.GOOD LUCK DONT SEND IT TO NO TRAVEL AGENTS THEY ARE A RIP OFF.JUST DO IT YOUR SELF.FILL YOUR FORM UP AND SEND 2 PICTURES AND THEY WILL DO THE REST.GOOD LUCK.
