Is there any way to avoid paying the $200.00 that is required if you leave your celllular company prior to the contracts end?

no. if there will be a way, then people would be jumping from one cell shop to another cuz of the "cool new phones." if you want to switch to another provider, you can either pay the $200 or just go ahead and transfer the line to another person (a friend/a relative). and then they can just take care of it. i bought my cellphone from a friend and we had the line fixed. same number, same phone, different owner. but i guess it depends on your provider. it won't do any harm if you ask them.

YUP!!!! Just start calling Customer Service everytime you have the smallest problem/question,(like 30 times a day), they will ask to turn your phone off!!!!
