American society evolved - evelution isn't always a good thing but it's still evolution. Yes I think other countries laugh at us or pity us, some are just plane disgusted. But there are countries we feel the same way about. How many jokes have you heard at the French or Canadian's expense? We pity and are disgusted by the middle east and third world countries. We down right hated Germany and Russia for along time. Each has their own downfall. It is human nature to see something and invision how we would make it better.
As a parent I agree TV and Movies have gotten out of hand. Look at a SAW and HOSTEL...need I say more. But whats wrong with this country is personal responsibility - there is none. I don't blame the food companies because I'm overweight - I blame myself. I don't blame MCD's because of the fat teenager down the street - I blame the parents. We can only be truely responsible for ourselves....throw in the governments rules on parenting and you've got a whole generation with no consequences because "big brother" says everything I do to teach them right is wrong. Grounding became neglect, spanking became abuse, healthy lifestyles became stiffling creativity, and unhealthy lifestyles became spoiling....kids were givin the power to tattle on their parents and parents have noone to tattle to. Junk food and innapriopriate media has always been around - it's just that instead of it being at a specified time in the week it's everyday 24-7.....welcome to evolution

I think the rest of the world is embarrassed for us. They know we have a lot of down time on our hands and a lot of money to burn. But it will eventually catch up to us.

TO MUCH OF THE WRONG COMMERCIALS. ITS UP TO PARENTS TO WATCH WHAT THEY BUY. CHILDREN SEE WHAT THEIR PARENTS EAT. THE SAYING IS YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT. THIS COUNTRY IS OVER WEIGHT IN EVERYTHING.
