sex of the baby?

my boyfriend and i don't plan on having kids for at least 4-5 years, but we have a dilemma.

i do NOT want to know the sex of our baby before the baby is born.

he DOES wnat to know the sex of our baby.

this is weird because i am a control freak, and ALWAYS want to know EVERYTHING.

the conclusion we came up with is that he can find out, but he can't tell me. he just has to setup the nursery by himself in blue or pink theme, and i'm banned from this room.....is this a good compromise, or should we decide to both know, or both not know?

i don't want to know because my little cousin was supposed to be a girl, but when he was born, we found out he was a boy! as a result, we (all the cousins) make fun of him by calling him a girl (horrible, i know). i don't want the same mistake to happen to our baby.

plus i've seen too many discovery channel specials on true hemaprodites. =P

and isn't just yellow baby stuff safer? we can reuse for the next baby, and plus, we're not forcing our girls to like pink, and our boys to like blue.

It is a fair compromise. I didn't want to know with my daughter, so I told the ultrasound tech as soon as I answered the room. She was a total surprise to me.

When he paints the room, have him wear old clothes that he can dispose of when he's done....you don't want to see any paint in the laundry to spoil your surprise.

Most doctors will not tell anyone if the mother says she does not want to know. So that would mean your boyfriend can't know either. But, if by some chance your doctor tells him anyway, that is a pretty cool idea.... if you can stand the suspense, that is.

if you plan on waiting 4-5 years, you could change your minds on this. I wouldn't worry about it until then.
