I'm a suburban boy raised in a sheltered, conservative environment. I enjoy listening to rap, hip hop, and a lot of club music as a cool way to do moral rebellion against the good but kinda self-righteous environment which I've grown up in. I manage to get kickass grades/scores so it aint hurting that.

I'm just a free spirit. Anything wrong wit that?

There will always be a difference between what is seen as socially acceptable between older generations, and younger generations.

You'll notice it yourself when you get older. Some of the music you absolutely love today, you may end up loathing in a decade. Not because you are wiser, or smarter, but because your tastes have changed. Or you really began paying attention to it, and realized it was complete crap.

I had the same experience with KoRn. Complete garbage, but I used to love their style.

i presumed the album sucked. Lupe sounded uninspired on a million/2 the tracks. The production become universal rubbish and the hooks could no longer have been worse. I additionally got here across it fullyyt ironic that Lupe tried to get political over pop beats. he's getting all Immortal technique on us yet he's clearly having ingenious licensing subject concerns. and that i do no longer blame Lupe for this warm mess, Atlantic of course screwed him. The album could be aptly titled: Atlantic records "LASERS". "have you ever had the sensation which you have been being had?" i think of Lupe does.

Not necessarily a "free spirit", but, no there's nothing wrong with listening to hip-hop. Why would you ever think it were wrong? Possibly because you're white listening to a black artform...music is music.

By the way, hip-hop died long ago. This crap out now ain't "hip-hop"...

Well, if you are listening to it because you actually LIKE it, of course not. Whatever turns you on.

But if you are just listening simply to get under your parent's skin ("moral rebellion" Your words, not mine).....that is just kind of immature.

No you can listen to whatever music you like, and if someone judges you for that, then they're not a very open minded person

No, just your taste in music. But then every generation of teens have to "rebel" and show their individuality by conforming to the current trends.

It's all fun and games until harsh reality smacks you in the face

But it's a part of growing up as well, enjoy it while it lasts

If you are doing it as a way to rebel, its pretty lame. If you truly enjoy it, more power to you.
Sounds like you just want attention to me.
