Since when did poetry have supported background music instruments? Rap is anything but attempting poetry.

Disagree because you have rappers like Common, LL Cool J, Run DMC and more greats on that level who are R=Rhymers A=Applying P=Poetry.
Don't get me wrong, there are definitely TOO many rappers out there in this new generation rhyming about nonsense. It makes me think that if I took a trash can lid, kept banging it on the wall and saying "beat the wall" over and over then I would have a hit song.

I disagree because rap is a musical form not a literary form. That why there are more English classes in rap it is found in the music department if it is found at all.
But most rap as a musical genre is cliche and trite with rappers saying whatever else is saying in unoriginal ways. Rap died with TuPac and with the nineties just like rock died with Kurt Cobain in the nineties.
Though I will say Lady Saw kicks serious *** in my book.

I don't. I am not a fan of rap music however, some rap is pretty decent. To put all rap and its artist in the same category is kind of prejudiced isn't it? That would be like saying everyone who likes country and western are all redneck racists. Besides, Retard is a horrible thing to call anyone.

While I'm not a fan of rap, I can see why some would.
I don't like country music either, but I don't lay judgment on those who do.

I agree but that little phrase is getting too over-used. I'm sure there are a few good rap lyrics floating around the underground, but the majority of the new rap is crap. It is hilarious to see a brainwashed Caucasian pretend to be black. I don't know how they can be so stupid to believe they are actually black.
P.S.
Rock didn't die with Kurt Cobain, a shitty genre called "grunge" did.

There is good rap and there is stupid rap.... like all the stuff that talks about sex n*ggas pimps bittches and hoes and drugs and thug life and nothing else better.... that rap is stupid. But there is some like tupac and biggie that is actually quality worthwhile. So do I agree, yes to all the popular meaningless shiit out there.
