The Double White by the Beatles. It was revolutionary at the time , had posters and lyrics in and was just really inventive in music and concept.

Uh, clearly it was Judy Garland: Live at Carnegie hall it outsold freaking Elvis, was number one for 13 weeks strait and stayed in the top forty for over a godman year. And given that the population was lower in the fifties and music was much harder to go out and buy as there was no internet and no MTV promotion vehicle that is some serious sales!
My second choice would be The White Album but that is a distant second.
