People's feet walking in the street.

Isn't that part of a poem?

In winter I get up at night
And dress by yellow candlelight
In summer, quite the other way
I have to go to bed by day
I have to hear the people's feet
Walking past me in the street

how does that really go?? I think I've got it a bit confused. Is it Robert Louis Stevenson? Help!
