I recently read a book that gave many different definitions to what crime is, so i was wondering what other people's opinions were on the topic.

Crime is anything that defies any given law.

This is why I'm all for anarchy. No laws = no crime. No crime = people are safer. Don't tell me there's a flaw in my logic. That's a trivial detail and not worth worrying about.

Crime is simply doing something against statutory law - either by commission or omission
