I can find no references for a piano with the name "Hummel".

Have you opened the top and looked to see is there is any name on the cast-iron harp? Usually it is part of the mold.

Hummel may be just a model name, or even the name of the dealer that sold it. The manufacturer's name (if given) will be on the harp, or there might even be a decal on the soundboard itself.

If you can find none of these things, then you have, without a doubt, a "stencil" piano -- manufacturer unknown, built with a custom name for a dealer or distributor.

Any guess how old it might be?

EDIT:

The responder below is factually correct, but I think it highly unlikely that a manufacturer would honor the composer with an upright piano rather than a grand, especially during the period mentioned, when uprights were still in their infancy.

Hummel was a virtuoso pianist and composer. Johann Nepomuk Hummel was a virtuoso pianist of the late classical/early romantic period. Born in 1778, Hummel lived with and had piano lessons from Wolfgang Mozart. Later he received tuition from Clementi and Haydn, at the same time becoming friends with the young Ludwig van Beethoven and Franz Schubert and the writers Schiller and Goethe. In 1804, Hummel became kapellmeister to Kronprinz Esterhazy, replacing Haydn. Hummel was a champion of copyright, giving benefit concerts when the Musicians Fund ran low. Hummel was a great pianist and composer. Hummel's music influenced many composers who came after him such as Frédéric Chopin, Robert Schumann, Franz Liszt, Johannes Brahms, Car Czerny, Ferdinand Hiller, Sigismund Thalberg, Adolf von Henselt and Felix Mendelssohn. Hummel died peacefully in his sleep in 1837.

Hummel, like many composers before and after him, often had pianos made for him. Usually reputable piano makers such as Sebastien Erard, Camille Pleyel, Henry Steinway, John Broadwood or Dwight Baldwin would make special pianos for composers as a way of advertising their pianos.
It is quite possible you have one such piano, manufactured for Hummel.

Have you checked to see if the piano is made of the traditional material or is it made of appropriately painted plaster.

After all, it could be a figurine.
