Its in the nature of humans that we need to colonies other worlds, just as we have colonised every continent on Earth. Its something we must do, a purpose of existence.
One day humans have to leave the Earth. We must now how to do it and where were going when that day comes.

considering the technology, products, and materials we've developed by having a space program, it is definitely worth it.

Man's greatest inventions are usually as a result of war. A great deal of money is spent on defeating an enemy, and the technology spun off of that has been, traditionally, the greatest steps forward Man takes... Well, coming in second is the space program. By developing and inventing what is needed to keep people alive in space, they've likewise spun off whole new industries.

The only time we progress is when we need something we don't have. The space program provides that need.

I think it's worth it.

It spurs advances in science and engineering. Every trip, we learn something new. That learning finds its way into the private sector, and helps with everything from fuel economy of our cars, to the media that our music is recorded on, to medical, agricultural, military, and aviation technology.

It provides employment for many people, from the janitor at the plant that makes the widget buried deep in the shuttle or rocket, to the astronaut that pilots it into orbit, and back.

Most importantly, it helps fulfill the human ambition to explore, to wonder what's over the next hill, to keep looking further and further. If that ambition didn't exist, at best you'd be cooking a rabbit on a wood fire right now.

It really depends what can be brought forth as far as benefits. Benefits that improve the quality of life for man in general. That means experiments in a no gravity situation.
Which would mean a low orbit course.

As far as exploring space ? Forget it. Why ? Because the universe is so damn big. The human mind thinks in terms of beginnings and ends. The universe is endless. Try to think about this. If light travels at 186,000 miles per SECOND ,
think how far it would have traveled to the outer reaches of this expanding universe. Astrologers have done some calulations as to how far out the material universe is. Now get this. To get to the outer reaches of this expanding material universe traveling at 186,000 miles per SECOND, it would take you 14,000,000,000,000 ( BILLION ) LIGHT YEARS to get to the farest space objects. Don't even try to guess how far out that is because the human mind is finite and cannot grasp that kind of distance. So from the stand point of head'in out there, forget it. If there is life out there, I am sure they wouldn't want us to bring to them our way of life as screwed up as we are.

Hi. I believe it depends on the task. Going up to fix a problem or rescue someone or something, yes. Replace satellites that are wearing out, yes. Taking a joyride, even if you can afford it, no because it puts others at risk (in case you become one of those that needs rescue!).

it is very foolish to think if we spend money to help poors on the earth for example in africa and prepare food for them this is better than spending money on space programs!we want to feed how many 100?1000?100000?in fact we have wasted our money in this way.when we spend money on space programs we dont just spend it in this way but the whole technology grows in this way and you can take this tech on earth and use it for welfare of people we have a proverb in our language that says dont give fishes to poores teach them how to do fishing.so its the duty of goverments of poor countries to make the bases and fundamentals in their country.(sorry for my mistakes im not english tounge)
