There is nothing wrong with having a soda (diet or not) once in awhile while you are pregnant
Just watch how much caffeine you take in - better choices are of course water juice and milk
The only other issue with diet soda is the aspartame - studies have yet to determine if there any long term risk or complications from too much of it (that's for anyone not just pregnant women)
But as long as you are having it in moderation (like you appear to be) I would not worry at all
Good luck

This is a very controversial issue, as you can probably tell.... and there are obviously varying opinions about it. One diet coke is probably fine. I wouldn't drink anything diet with any sort of frequency at all (even while not pregnant). The sweeteners in diet soda are made from chemicals. They have been associated with neurological disorders and even cancer in large amounts. No one knows for sure what those sweeteners *could* do to the body of a developing baby since no one is going to do controlled experiments on pregnant women and fetuses. The waitress had no right to question your one diet soda, but it is better that you have decided to cut back.

is it a two liter bottle every other day? =)
I'm guessing it's not, so you should be perfectly okay. Sure milk or fruit juice would be a healthier choice, but it's not like you're drinking DC all day long! You deserve a splurge here and there.
The recommended limit to caffeine for pregnant women (especially those in the first trimester) is one 12 oz. can of cola per day (coffee, tea and other drinks have different levels). It's believed that very little if any of that amount of caffeine actually enters your baby's body. If you drink a little more than that it's still not a big deal, especially if it's not every day, a lot more though could be a big deal.
It's time to get used to ignoring what people think of you & your parenting...you're going to be getting looks from everybody on the planet for the next 18 years, because NOBODY is ever going to agree with all of you decisions.
Good luck dealing with judgmental people, and congrats on your baby!

Oh properly, I drink approximately 5 cans an afternoon and that i'm large. i think of that ingesting something carbonated isn't solid for enamel (including carbonated water) whether this is truthfully greater powerful than ingesting Fanta or Sprite or maybe diluting orange because it does not have sugar. i think of the caffeine unfastened one (gold can) is likewise solid and that i don't be conscious any style distinction. in case you like the style of exact coke then the 0 one is solid (black can). as long as you drink some water as properly and don't purely get your liquid from weight loss software coke and have a healthful weight loss software i do no longer think of you have something to be concerned approximately.

I have been told that up to two caffeinated beverages a day is fine and the test show that the babies affected by it where from mothers that drank up to 6 a day. Have you checked with your Dr. on the diet part though? I have heard some women say they were told not to drink diet.
Others always seem to think they know what is best for us, just ignore her. Ask your Dr. about things and if they say OK, then go for it.
good luck!

I dont think it is bad to have a diet coke! I have a 8oz cup of coffee every morning to ease the constipation and I am 25 weeks. People were looking at me like I was nuts. I asked the doctor and he said it is okay as long as you drink an additional 16oz of water to keep from getting dehydrated. Just remember to drink an extra glass of water for the diet soda you drink.

They say any of the artifical sweetners is not good at all. They have diet coke make with splendar, which is the better of the two evils. Personally, i stayed away from all of that. I drank regular coke (i'm a big diet coke fan).
I'd talk to your doctor when you see him next, he might tell you once in while isn't that bad.

It's the caffeine that people are worried about. You don't have to cut back your intake if it is caffeine free diet coke. I know that is my fav soda, and had 2 kids. Moderate use of reg diet coke is ok.caff free everyday ok too!!!!

Diet Coke is perfectly acceptable for pregnant mothers, the FDA has approved it for all uses. There is a ground campaign of kooks to put suspicion in the minds of consumers, none of which is supported by scientific evidence. Listen to the experts, ignore the kooks.

Give me a break. Drink whatever you want- I'm 37 years old, and I survived my mother drinking & smoking through pregnancy, as did many others.
Society keeps getting crazier and crazier. However, because I am into healthy eating, I would suggest regular coke- it's much better for you:)
YOU'LL NOTICE THAT "FINCHY" WENT THROUGH AND VOTED EVERYONE A NEGATIVE - IT IS OBVIOUS BECAUSE EVERYONE HAS 1 NEG VOTE, EXCEPT HER. NOT A NICE PERSON:(
