80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.


To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

proof of God can be found in prophecy

in the book of Daniel,
He says that an angel called Gabiel tells him of the babylonian empire, how it would be conquered by the persians, and then the greeks, and the Romans

The great empires occured in exactly that order

this isn't sunday school teaching either, they tend to leaver stuff like that out

pretty accurate for a guy to come up with something like that, i guess an angel really did fill him in on the details

think about it this way

the more complicated something is, the more likely it has to be designed

look at a car
look at mount rushmore
look at yourself

your veins laid end to end would circle the eart over 4 times

your cells posses the most advanced nanomachines in the world,

a bacteria's microscopic tail vibrates at 150,000 rpm per second, its the most advanced outboard engine in existence, and its on a bacteria

if we could make stuf like this world hunger wouldn't be around

now if you think all this happeend naturally, just like mount rushmore, or your car, happened naturally, then its kinda wierd why you would think that

becuase every generation beleive what they are told,
we beleivfe in evolution and that life is pointless

the germans beleived that jews and blacks were inferior, as it was the version of the truth at the time

we all laugh at each asge before us, becvuase of their lack of science or thier ethos at the time, but it was the best their scfientists could have come up with, or it was what their sicentisits wanted them to hear

we once thoguht aboriginals were the missing link, and so kept them in cages

evolution makes us chuck life away

God makes us reconsider

it is up to us all to find our own meaning in our own lives, whatever it may be that keeps us going and gives us purpose...
everyone has their own meaning to life, and it might be that everybody's is different.
There is a good book called 'Man's Search for Meaning' by Viktor E. Frankl.
He is the survivor of a Nazi concentration camp and talks about finding his own meaning in a life that was surrounded by devastation. And he describes how finding this meaning gave him the will to survive.
