I AM old in years, (but not in mind - I still feel a 21 years old) and it is not as bad as I used to think it would be. My main fear is losing my mental faculties, but so far this hasn't happened, so I don't worry anymore, just live for the day and make the most of every moment.

I worry more about becoming helpless and being a burden to my children and grandkids; my 57 year old sister passed away in April and I want to go the way she did. She knew she was dying and tried to prepare us without becoming a burden. She told me she was tired and didn't want to hurt anymore; I didn't want to lose her but I understood and I miss her sooo much.
I know Social Security will not be enough to keep me by the time I can retire and I will not move in with my kids and make their lives uncomfortable the way our lives were when we had to move and take care of my father in law after my mother in law passed away. I have made up my mind that I will not let myself be totally dependent on anyone!

I think the worst part about being old would be...feeling like your a burden on your family, and just laying around all day long having nothing to do. Your skins all saggy..you feel unattractive...no need to use makeup cuz your just not gonna look any younger.

THat I will be bitter and regret that I didn't live my life more fully and that I didn't take more risks and experience more people, places and things! That scares the hell out of me. I guess it's motivation though to get myself together and get out there and live. Oh, and all the wrinkles, sagging, incontinence, drooping, inability to drive/walk/hear/see/feel attractive, and all that stuff. Fearing death and not feeling that my life was fulfilling.

Having to rely on others, and not being able to go on the spur of the moment like I do now, also don't want anyone to have to take care of me or to be a burden

What do you wear and what music do you listen to? Don't we always have this drive to be cool? But what about when you are 80, you can't shop at the Abercrombie of the time, you know?

Having to go to a NURSING HOME. I had to visit my grandmother at one. It was depressing. I would rather die in my sleep before I end up at one of them. I am only 20 years old so I have a long time before I end up at one of them awful places. Right?
