Von Richthofen (sp?) was actually a 'Baron'. The name 'von' implies nobility.
1. Because Manfred von Richthofen was an 'ace' fighter pilot during WWI and was very effective, so he painted his Tri-winged Fokker a crimson red, and was called the 'Red Baron' by the allies.
2. Since he was so unafraid of the enemy, his squadron painted their planes bright pastel colors and was known as the 'Flying Circus'.
3. The Flying Circus was extremely dangerous and shot down a lot of allied planes. Herman Goering, of Nazi Party fame, was one of the 'ace' pilots of the Flying Circus under the Red Baron.
4. Snoopy never shot down the accursed Red Baron.

Any war such as the Civil War or WWII can easily provide material for that kind of paper length, but you should pick a historical event that has to do with an interest of yours. I love running and athletics so I would do a paper like that on the first Olympic games. Good luck on the project!

Because he was actually a noble. Though not truly a baron, that is still how it came to be.
