Maybe not just yet, they have the NFC to beat up on, we'll see in a few weeks.
Cheers!

You need to put it in perspective--its an opening weekend away game against one of the best teams in the NFL that didn't lose a game at home last year. The Chargers D was not a lot better--I'll even make the arguement that the Bears D is better, considering that its harder to stop LT than it is to stop Benson.
This game turned on two plays--McGowan's fluke special teams play and Peterson's fumble. Other than that, the Bears D had a pretty good handle on the game.
I love it--the Grossman bashers are already coming out--he didn't play bad. The O line played like ****, Benson & Peterson can't hang on to the ball, Berrian quit running that route, and Muhammed continued to drop passes. Phillip Rivers only threw for 190 yards and 1 INT, Grossman threw for 145 yards and an INT--those stats are pretty similar, its just that Rivers has LT so nobody is going to say anything.
I would give Grossman until week 4, which is the first divisional game. If he still stinks then, it might be time for the hook. For now, I wouldn't be too worried--there's no shame in losing an away game against a team that's picked to win the Super Bowl.

The Bears will do better the rest of the season than they did against the Chargers yesterday. Remember, the Chargers picked up the Bears' defensive coordinator from last year. And he should have known exactly how to scheme the Chargers' defense to render the Bears' offense completely ineffective. And, that's what you saw happen yesterday.
One thing that the Bears should be concerned about, though, is that other opponents are going to be studying film of the game and learning how the Chargers approached the Bears' defensively. Other teams may not have the talent on defense that the Chargers have to make those defensive schemes work. But, at least they'll be able to attack the Bears' offensive vulnerabilities.
It might be a long season for Bears fans this year.

The Bears will be fine, at least within the NFC. Even with subpar Grossman and unproven Benson they are good enough to run away with the North and go far in the NFC playoffs.
Even if they do make the super bowl, however, there are still three or four teams in the AFC that are better than the Bears that would, barring a collection of strange circumstances, run them off the field.
The Patriots, the Colts, and the Chargers for sure are better at this point.
But enjoy the season. They'll still be pretty good.

the difficulty seems to be twofold. The goaltending and the reality that this is a youthful group, generally after making the super step forward they made final 12 months there'll be some becoming pains and the valuable factors might desire to be consolidated until now they might take the subsequent step. With the goaltending as undesirable and inconsistent because it particularly is been this group is going to be shaky in the self belief dept. who's in charge? the becoming pains are organic and no one is incredibly in charge. Mgmt is in charge for the goaltending difficulty. Bringing him in too early, no longer have a goaltending coach for years, in no way having an sufficient backup or in no way understanding that Fleury isn't the 2d coming of Patrick Roy. the two way Mgnt is in charge for the goaltending mess.

Thank goodness your team isn't playing Antonio Gates and LT every week.
However, the handwriting is on the wall. The Bears need an act of Congress to score. Grossman and Benson are bums. And that defense can only bail them out so long against real competition.

I would say yes and no. Personally I don't think they did a whole lot different than last year. They had a pretty bad offense last year. But they got a lot of defensive and special team touchdowns. You can't plan on getting those kind of TDs every week. Which gave them quite a few wins last year. If they don't get those, which odds are they won't. They'll have to find away to generate some offense with what they got.

It's not time to panic, just yet. The Bears played a good game, they managed to shut down last year's MVP and hold him to his second lowest rushing total for a game. Turnovers made the difference, the Bears were not taking care of the ball, and that cost them. You can't give offense like that of San Diego that many chances to score and not expect them to take advantage of some of them. The roughing the passer penalty didn't help their cause any either.

I would panic! I think that lovie smith is in denial of how bad rex grossman really is. He is crazy if he actually thinks that rex is the reason why the bears went to the superbowl last year! The only reason why the bears were productive last year was because of the one, two punch of Benson, and Jones period! Rex got lucky a few times, but you cant ride that luck for years to come, and unfortunately it may take at least 8 games for Lovie to realize that!

don't panic just yet.
the offensive game plan wasn't anything spectacular, and we fumbled all over the place. Grossman's 1 pick wasn't his fault. The Defense was stellar in shutting down possibly the best running teams in the league. THey will turn it around.
