I usually pack one suitcase full of clothes and another of Heinz baked beans.

I always pack way too much clothing and my suitcase is always overweight. I feel like I'm packing the essentials but bringing 5 pairs of shoes when traveling abroad is just plain crazy. I've had to pay for that twice. When I was in Italy it weighed over 100lbs.

One suitcase and one carry-on with my essentials.
My kids get to pick one toy to bring and one back pack or suitcase. I love my book "Are we there yet?", it has tons of entertaining/educational ideas to occupy kids and pass the time while on our way to the destination. I still keep bedtime a routine like at home so I bring a few bedtime storybooks. Well rested kids are happier and less cranky.
I don't like cranky kids on vacation, you know what I mean?

At least one suitcase full of clothes and my carry on with my personal items (shampoo, makeup, toys). Plus I pack my husband's bags. Whenever I return from vacation, I have lots more clothes.

Do you really want a full list? Ok.....
Toothbrush and paste, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, scrubby, razor, shower cap, allergy medicine, nail polish and remover, camera, underclothes for two days beyond the planned lenghth of the trip, at least two pairs of jeans/pants, 1 pair of shorts, 1 set of pajamas, 3-4 skirts, t-shirts or blouses to go with the pants and skirts, (maybe) socks and stockings, tennis shoes, sandals, dress shoes, plenty of hair accessories, jewelry to go with any outfit, my sleep mask, journal, MP3 player, pocket knife, and probably a whole lot more I'm forgetting. I can usually fit it into one large suitecase.
