As others have pointed out, this has no meaning to her at all.

Just have a family gathering, or maybe a few friends, have some food, make a fuss over her, and let her smear some cake all over herself.

She doesn't know what a birthday is, or what a year is, or what age is, or any of it.

No need to hire clowns, spend 50,000 dollars, redecorate your house, or any of that nonsense.

Do NOT over-stimulate her; that'll just give you a cranky, crying baby on your hands, and will not be any fun for her.

A one-year old really doesn't know what is going on at a party, yet. I would just have close family over to lunch or dinner and serve birthday cake. Give the baby a cake of her own and let her use her fingers. Then take pictures. I think that's what most people do. She probably won't even be into presents yet. Be patient. As they get older, there is lots more to do.

For my one year old, we only invited immediate family and had a BBQ. It was very low key and we did not have too much stimulation. The crowd of adults in our family was enough. Of course, we had cake and ice cream, but we did not go overboard. So, my suggestion is to keep it simple and don't get too stressed over the details. People will just enjoy spending time with the baby. Good luck!

We had a family party. Balloons, streamers, dinner, cake and ice cream. Our daughter had a blast.

We made a video of some of her pictures put to music.

If she's one year old, don't knock yourself out. It's a baby. Have a simple gathering of loved ones. Sing to her and let her play with a new walker or swing. Let her have what she loves. When I was a baby, it was a mashed banana.

do a theme around her favorite movie or cartoon.

For example we did a blues clues party for my 2 yr old nephew.

We made paw prints out of blue constrution paper and taped them all over the house.

We made all the characters out of paper and taped them on the wall next to the blue's clues house.

It as a big hit. We played pin the flag on mailbox.

Does it really matter.. they are one year olds.. they wont remember. At this point I think its more for the parents than the kid. Don't really think you need a theme. How about just pink balloons, plates and napkins.
