Most Ikea furniture has these round nuts that fit into pre-cut holes used to attach and bolt on adjacent boards etc. I was looking for a generic name for these "embedded nuts" so I could use it for a DIY stand I was trying to set up.

Sleeve nuts or blind nuts depending on manufacturer.

I believe those are called "threaded sleeves" or, "sleeve nuts", into which the bolt with the "same thread size" fit.
Hardware departments should have these. They can help with your description.
