The only reason to unplug a computer would be if you are in an area where there are frequent power blackouts (actually the power surge after the blackout is what is dangerous), during an electrical storm, or if you have older wiring tht can cause electrical surges. Any kind of electric surge is bad for computers and other electronic equipment.
You might want to consider investing $20-50 in a good power surge protector. It will let you connect your PC, monitor, printer, etc all into the one bar. The bar has a "breaker" which will trip in the event of a power surge and prevent it from reaching you equipment.
It also as the advantage that once you have powered down the computer, you can turn off the bar power, and "turn off" the monitor, printer, etc all at the same time, rather then having to do a bunch of different buttons. Another touch of the power bar, and everything is back on (except the PC).

Unplugging it would be safer in the event of a large electrical surge, but if it's a laptop, you'll be missing out on that battery charge time. Unplugging it all the time can also be a hassle. Get a decent quality UPS and leave it plugged in.

The other two answers are pretty much right, but leaving it plugged in for a laptop, uses power also so its more environmental to unplug also.

properly it fairly relies upon. in case you're very fortunate, each and everything related on your PSU would be truthfully large different than getting an undesirable digital rececitation (Spelling?). in case you're unlucky, you need to've fried your motherboard and video card (If it has a skill cable connecting it to the PSU). the sole way you are able to tell if each and everything continues to be working is to attempt it with yet another PSU. additionally, each and every person makes stupid blunders. I made the blunders of putting one greater motherboard stand-off and my laptop does no longer boot up. i grow to be fortunate adequate to no longer have any injury in any respect. some people are fortunate, and a few people are no longer. It fairly has no longer something to do with intelligence point.
