If you said 'Yes' then I offer you this opportunity . And before I go any further I must ask that if you have an issue that you'd like to ask or see answered by me , then go ahead and spend 5 points like I did and ask .

Now let's talk . As you're probably aware , the NY Times has a full page political ad directly besmirching the integrity of General Petraeus . Something like 'Petraeus or Betray Us' . A sick-minded effort directly implying that 4 star General Petraeus would or could be a traitor . There's no other way to portray this because if he lies then he is a traitor . And didn't the dems unanimously approve him ?

But here's the kicker. . . . . Petraeus hasn't even given his review yet and no one knows for sure exactly what he'll say .

And just exactly when did it become Patriotic to bash a man , a 4-Star General mind you , before he even speaks his own mind ?

Will You Ever Again Trust The People Responsible For That Ad ?

They are using their brainwashing tactics before the fact and sadly, it's working. Between the liberal blogs, newspapers, sites, and even here, they're all questioning his review already. I guess that word has it that it will be a positive review and will place the Iraq situation into a better light than it has been. What better way to demean things than to mentally prepare people in advance that he is nothing more than a Bush puppet.

They forget that this person was selected and approved by a Congress that is primarily Democratic. :)

Yes, sure I can be open minded,
I have not been able to find that ad, I have heard about it on here but cannot find it or even those who paid for it.
Can you provide a link so I could view this myself?
I rather doubt it was paid for by the DNC, so it would be along the Swift boat "Traitor" allegations against Kerry in 04.
Certainly not as bad as the Rove attacks on John McCain or Max Cleland though.

While i abhor politics of this slimy sort, it is widely known that the words coming out of the Generals mouth will be written by the White House.
That is the problem some have with Gen. Petraeus, although it is not really his fault. I believe he would prefer to give his own honest assessment to Congress.

It's shameful for the ones responsible for the ad, and for the New York times to accept it. General Petraeus is not worried about his career, he is as high as he can go, and his pay is maxed out. He has no personal gain to be had in any event, he will give his report, based on his professional opinion, independent of his personal beliefs. That's what soldiers do, General MacArthur disagreed with Truman and was fired, he accepted this gracefully and with honor, and General Petraeus will give his opinion understanding that the results could be the same.

I am pretty open minded. I have my set opinions on some issues, but I at least hear the other side of the argument.

I'm aware of the ad in the Times, and I think it's reprehensible.

However, place the blame squarely on those responsible for the ad, don't blanket the entire left-of-center.

Yes I am open minded.
If I get a new set of information I will spend time going over it before I come out with my views on it.

When it comes to Petraeus I do believe the democrats put to much of their hopes on our troops failing. He coming back with good news won't be good news for the DNC.

That is the problem with polls when the wind does shift do so do the polls.

I never am able to believe the level the far left of the democrats will stoop to push their hate America agenda. General Petraeus opinion on the future of the war could show that we need to withdraw now and meet the agenda of the far left but rather than wait to see what he says they want to besmirch him. Its amazing the lengths democrats will sink now.

ETPHD I'm opened minded but he HAS been caught lying check this out friend if you're open minded

He tell the foriegn press this
“It has not worked out as we had hoped,” the general said

“Many of us had hoped this summer would be a time of tangible political progress at the national level,” Petraeus wrote. “All participants, Iraqi and coalition alike, are dissatisfied by the halting progress on major legislative initiatives,” he wrote.

but tells the American press this
“Based on the progress our forces are achieving, I expect to be able to recommend that some of our forces will be redeployed without replacement,” he told the Boston Globe by email on Friday…. “Few of these political solutions would have been possible without the improved security provided by coalition and Iraqi forces.”

and here's a link to the artcle where he states the surge DIDN'T WORK

Trusting or even acknowledging Moveon.org would be to stipulate that they are something other than flaming moon-bats.

I have no problem with a responsible opposition group or political party keeping us honest but, this is beyond the valley of contemptible.

It is intellectual bile.

Isn't it funny that truly being open minded means having to ignore pretty much everything anyone says & everything you see in the news? It's ALL biased, and just downright angry half the time.

Unfortunately that is the DNC these days.

Remember, this is the same party that hired telemarketers months before the 2000 election to call people on election day and the following few days to say that there was confusion with the polls and basically to make them question their votes. Underhanded tactics are to be expected.
