Hitting a pheasant will usually not cause as much damage as hitting a peasant. The former will cause some dents, broken lamp perhaps, while the latter is likely to cause a literary phenomenon - a write-off.

The variable are endless. The damage may include: dented hoods, broken windshields, scratched paint, etc. Be careful. Once hit, this flying projectile will be all dead weight, it can go through the windshield and cause damage to the driver and or passengers. I hope that you would avoid hitting anything, however if you have to, don't slam on the breaks, others behind you may not be able to stop in time to avoid a rear end collision.

Scratched Paintwork, Bent bodywork, cracked windshield, punctured tire, broken front grill, bent fan blade, ruptured radiator.
Any of those can happen...but not all at once. All depends on your speed and where the bird struck the car.

Hitting one smashed in my windshield and killed the bird. The shock of it made me wreck the car, which was later attributed to totaled.
So the answer, the life of one bird, my car, and a few hospital bills.
Then again, I was speeding. (nearly one hundred)
