Back in the earlier years of modeling (before my time) models were curvier and pretty. Then somehow the stick figure look took over. Then on show like America's Next Top Model those damn judges look for ANY DAMN EXCUSE to get rid of the sexy full figured models. It has been that way since the show debuted. Also the fashion industry STILL has those bony *** women modeling. Some runway shows will advertise a full figured mmodel or two but still have those malnourished models. At least Spain got a clue.don't these fashion idiots know they are sending a bad message by showcasing these bony *** models?Don't they know that if they showcase more voluptous models it would help alot of young girls/women with their body image? Also don't they know that a curvy voluptuous brickhouse is more sexy than a pile of bones?

Unfortunately, most industries, fashion or otherwise, are less concerned with long-term social consequences than with making money.

However, their desire for money and the potential to make it gives you and other individuals a voice through the free market.

Individuals who feel strongly about this and any other issue (quality control, fair trade, etc.) can take simple actions to make their feelings known by refusing to financially enable those who profit from the things you don't approve of in that industry.

Don't purchase, watch, click on, or otherwise pay attention to manifestations which offend your beliefs. Refuse to give business to those who sponsor (TV, web sites, magazines, designers) what you don't approve of. You won't miss seeing something that gets on your nerves.

Pass the word, do the necessary homework, and stick to your principles.

Marketing trends reflect public fantasies. If enough people prove with their pocketbooks that something turns them off, smart marketers will usually make changes because:

we don't need most of their stuff anyway, do we?

The clothes that they're showing look a heck of a lot better on a shaply body than on a tub of lard. They might make them in all sizes, but to be a successful advertizer, you must show your product in its best possible light .
Business people can't worry about individual body images . To be successful, they must make sales - - - a lot of sales .

it's just that the designers think that the clothes fit better on a thin model.

I think the model "Twiggy" from the 60's started that trend of the rail thin model...and we never got over it.

It definitely has contributed to a warped perception of how women think they should perceive themselves.

To be honest with you the fashion industry is made up of the shallowest individuals that the world has to offer.
