well mine heats up something unbearable! i think most do. have you ever noticed people calling them "notebooks". i think it's because they're not really suited to being on your thighs all the time. in my operating manual, it actually says to put it on a firm, even surface [like a table] instead.

here's a lovely reason why not to: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/4078895.stm

Hi
Maybe this is becuase the lap tops you tried are modern I tried a 15 years old laptop and it doesn't become so hot, maybe beecuase it has a fat body! But for modern laptops I prefer to put on a smooth surface such as a table.
Good Luck

it particularly is actual, laptops get so warm this is just about insupportable to apply it on the lap, i examine someplace that it's not cautioned to apply it on your legs. attempt to sidestep as much as a threat utilising it in hat place. relating to the style in actuality that the biggest reason is the processor Intel or AMD, Intel's overheat better than AMD processors. There are some companies like Lenovo, Sony and others that got here in carbon fiber and different man made components to cut back the computer temperature.

Go to your local computer store. They sell pads to protect your thighs. They also sell laptop coolers. I picked up an Antec cooler for $9.99 (after rebates) which works great. It connects to and gets it power from the laptop. It is not too heavy so you could hold it on your lap, but I prefer to have mine on an adjustable table so I can leave it ready-to-go instead of having to drag it out when I want to use it.

Nno, not really, it's just a marketing name, but it's better to have a stable surface to sit any computer on, for you and the computer.

Its even worse if you have a so-called "desktop replacement".

Give me a good-old desktop any day.
