I bought a cat from the vet clinic here on post sat. She seemed ok, but after awhile she started dry heaving like she was going to throw up, then yesterday and today she has this stuff running out the corners of both eyes and her nose, plus she has diarrhea and sleeps all the time (the sleeping part i just put this off as her being a kitten) but now im worried . I have 2 adult cats and I have never seen this in either of them, not even when they were kittens. All my cats are indoor cats. Im afraid the new kitten has something that she may pass on to my 2 adult cats. Am I over reacting...My vet is at lunch right now

thanks everyone..i just got back from the vet. she said these kittens were born with an upper respiratory disease and that theres nothing i can do but give the kitten eyes drops & antibiotics when it gets bad (like now) she said my kitten will never be a "healthy" cat, but she will live to be an adult as long as i take proper care of her.

It sounds like your cat MAY have an upper respiratory infection... beside the diarrhea. If it is only this, it a simple fix and nothing to fret about. All you have to do is go to the vet and he will prescribe an antibiotic. All of the cats I got from the shelters had this and once I out them on the medicine, they were back to normal in two or three days...

Your kitten could have an upper respiratory infection which isn't serious and can be treated with antibiotics and vitamin supplements.
If it's a lower respiratory infection there isn't much you can do to save her and both types of infections are transferable to other cats.
Make sure you use a soft wet warm wash cloth to clean the mucus from her eyes or they will become infected and she could go blind.
And hold her and reassure her that she's going to be alright and this will give her the strength to fight the infection until you can get help for her.
I hope she'll be alright,I love cats and hate the thought of any of them suffering.

If she is a rescued animal, she has been through alot of trauma. She is probably adjusting to a new lifestyle and food. The runny eye/nose junk sounds like she has a cold. My rescued cat didn't even know how to play and was wary of large places. (He was found half dead in a dumpster.) He had diarrhea too. If this persists and the cat does not eat, bring him to the vet!

I even have (and characteristic had) many cats, and enable me say that i'm no stranger to them having this disease! certainly, that's fairly purely hypersensitive reactions. Rubbing their eyes gently with a somewhat heat damp rag to do away with all that **** could artwork. different than that, they're in user-friendly terms somewhat sneezy and that's not something to stress approximately. in the experience that your mom is in a position to furnish them away, you're able to pay attention to her. maximum possibly, the kittens will pass to a loving relatives who's been waiting for some kittens for a while! do no longer think of that maximum persons do no longer take care of their kitties. purely remember, in the event that they choose for them, they love them. good success!

tIt sounds serious, you should take her to the vet stat. It could be distemper or a serious upper respitory infection. Keep her warm and isolate her from your other cats. If you cant get to the vet give her supportive care. Use a warm damp washcloth to clean around her eyes. Try kaoepectate and see if she'll drink water with plain pedolyte mixed in. Please TAKE HER BACK TO VET ASAP!!!!!

Sounds like the kitten cold. You need to take her to the vet if thats it, our cats had it and almost died. She might give it to your other cats to! If she acts really stuffy take her in the bathroom with you and turn the shower on hot enough so it'll make steam, it'll help clear her sinuses.

get teh kitten to the vvets. Your kitten sounds like has upper respitory infection and who knows what else possible worms or other problem. This is very contagious and can easily pass. remind the vet that you have other cats. upper respitory if that's what it is is a very bad cold.

I would just wait for your vet to finish lunch, its not worth leaving her. It might be something minor but after a quick check up you'll feel much better.
